Iyashikei Genre Poll
Hello, dear players! After nearly a year and a half of bringing you fun-filled events of all kinds, we'd like to hear some feedback from our players on what you all view the game as.
Many of our events are jam-packed with different elements such as plenty of fantasy vibes where we drop in new creatures to adopt or add a touch of transformation and magic. We've had horror events that were both mod and player run, though making it fewer and far between to keep those feel-good vibes that Iyashikei started out with. We had adventures that took you to explore new parts of the world and lend a helping hand to others, and festivals that can help create perfect bonding moments.
Looking back over the last year and a half, the mod team has started to wonder if our players still see this as a Slice of Life game or if perhaps we've shifted into something else that still has the same chill vibes as our playerbase has changed.
So we've love to hear from all of you on what you do view as a Slice of Life game and if we've grown beyond that with our events. We don't intend to change what our vibe actually is, though we're always open to feedback on that particular matter, only if we should change what we label the game as.
We've provided a handy poll beneath, but if you have further feedback, please comment below!

Before I begin, this player plot will include zombies (non-disease based), gore, body horror, mind control, and death. This plot will only affect a portion of the Outer Rim bounded by two large canals, and will not extend into any other part of the setting, so that anyone uncomfortable with these elements can easily opt out.

Iyashikei: The Musical
How do you do, fellow Iyashikei players?
Meowzy here, not as an app mod but as a player, putting up an OOC communication/brainstorming post! As you may or may not have noticed, Vox is setting up an IC musical project. (It's just the second half of that post, really.) Basically, the idea here is for player characters to team up, pool all their creativity together and craft a fun musical stage performance. Even the story is something that they all can collaborate on, because with so many characters from so many different cultures, there's bound to be lots of fresh takes. Characters don't even need to be singers/dancers/writers to work on this project because they'll also need musicians, set designers, prop designers, costume designers, lighting crew... There's so much to be done! NPCs will pitch in too, of course, but Vox would like most of the creative jobs to fall on Council invitees.
I expect the designing process would take about a month (especially if magic is used to speed up crafting processes), with the biggest time hurdle being song and story writing. Once everything's done, they can put on the show live a few times and that'll be it.
This whole thing can be as big or as discreet as you guys want. If you want a mingle log where characters ICly get some work done, we can put that up. If you want an IC log for the finished musical's opening night, we can do that too! Just say the word. I can put them up, or someone else can do it if they want to. Otherwise, we just handwave the whole thing and you can say your character helped make it happen.
Very important note: You don't need CR with Vox to participate in this. His only role is kickstarting this whole thing, and from that point on he'll withdraw because he's got other duties to tend to. His company (VoxCo) will be around to film the finished performance for documentation and broadcasting purposes, but that's about it. So any player can just join in at any time without worrying about IC connections.
What is this post for? To get some better details on what exactly is going down with your character if they participate! You can chime in saying what your character would want to do, maybe brainstorm with players who are interested in similar roles... We can figure out the musical's story here, or other deets like the style (are we going full Sondheim? Or more Takarazuka?), and also you can give a shout out on whether you want those IC logs or not.

State of the Game
✨ THE START OF A MAGICAL NEW YEAR!
✨ Current Character Count: 35
✨ Applications for December: 7
✨ Drops for December: 1
✨ A minimum word count of 500 words has been added to the personality section of the application.
✨ Quests are now being rolled into TDM and Events rather than being a separate entity.
✨ The FAQ has been updated and now includes sections about Media Guidelines, Crime & Punishment, as well as what happens with character Death in Iyashikei.
✨ The Rewards page has been updated to include a new business partnership option and several other new rewards, more explained below.
✨ Magic Pathways have been added to Yadah University. See more below.
✨ There are more changes underway, but we're not quite ready to announce them just yet.
✨ How will learning new magic work?
A new option has been added to the Rewards list, allowing characters to enroll in one of the magical study programs at Yadah University. Characters may also choose to enroll in two programs by selecting the Arcane Synthesis Track. Upon enrollment, characters will start off as beginners and progress through their studies over time, based on a combination of in-game activity and length of participation.
✨ What are the schools of magic?
There are currently six different schools (or pathways) of magic available to choose from: Alchemy, Conjuration, Elemental Magic, Psionic/Mental Magic, Transformation, and Transmutation. Additional schools may be introduced in the future, but these will serve as our starting foundations.
✨ How many schools can my character enroll in?
Most characters may enroll in one pathway at a time. The exception is for those on the Arcane Synthesis Track, who may select two pathways. The first pathway must be chosen from Conjuration, Elemental Magic, or Transformation, while the second must be chosen from Alchemy, Psionic/Mental Magic, or Transmutation.
✨ When do I choose which school they will enter?
When submitting the reward request to enroll and begin as a novice, you will be prompted to select a school of magic from the available options at that time. There will not be any additional forms to fill out or a formal record of enrollment.
✨ What about characters who have been in the game already?
For characters who have already been active in-game and may have been studying magic at Yadah University, we are allowing players to retroactively apply that time toward their character’s progression within their chosen pathway. All other advancement requirements, however, must still be fulfilled as normal.
✨ What are the advancement requirements?
These specifics to advancing can be found on the Advancement tab of the Magic School page. But it will be a combination of time in-game, proof of activity, and specific threads involving the study of the magic being learned. With the requirements becoming greater for each step up the pathway.
Hello, everyone!
A whole year! Can you believe it? I cannot express my genuine awe and gratitude at how this has turned out. I had a tiny, little dream about a Slice of Life game with chill vibes and a pastel, solar punk setting. A place of low stress overall, where characters could focus on aspects of found family and kindness. On my part, there have been ups and downs, mistakes made, lessons learned, and hopefully, I will continue to grow and learn so that I can be the best co-head mod for all of you. I truly want what is best for the game, and I will continue to strive to provide a fun, safe, and welcoming game for all. Everyone, both former and current players, have left their mark on Iyashikei and made it what it is today.
I want to thank each and every one of you for joining me through all of this, for all of your understanding of the mistakes I have made, your continued enthusiasm for the events I've created, or player-run events, and the ways you have helped grow and shape this game! I hope we can continue growing as a game and as a community. Iyashikei would not exist if it weren't for all of you and all of your passion you pour into this little space on Dreamwidth. I hope that going into 2026, we will see a bright future with more adventures that await our characters and the continued connection of our community as a whole. Thank you so much for your support, whether you've only been here for a few days or since the game opened. I truly am so thankful for all of you.
Love,
Jax
✨ Tilt: Hello, Iyashikei!
It’s hard to believe that a full year has passed since our very first test drive, when the council began drawing individuals from across worlds to help spread kindness and generosity in the face of darkness and horror throughout the multiverse. Back then, I was simply here with Iroh, who was trying to do what good he could. At that time, I didn't really know where the road would lead.
Over the course of this year, Iyashikei has changed in ways I never expected. Being here, writing with all of you, and watching this space take shape has been a pleasure. I’m deeply honored to have had the chance to step up and join the mod team as co-mod alongside Jax, and I’m excited to keep supporting Iyashikei as it continues to grow and evolve in 2026.
While the journey hasn’t always been smooth, the purpose of Iyashikei has never wavered: to create a welcoming space where people can come together to rediscover a little light, warmth, and joy through roleplay. As a personal New Year’s resolution, I’m aiming not only to be more active in logs, but also to spend more time getting to know everyone here and threading with as many of you as I can.
Until the next,
Tilt
✨Meowzy: Hi everyone! First of all, I hope everyone who celebrates any kind of December holiday had a lovely time, full of warm moments and delicious food. If you didn't celebrate anything, I hope you also still had a lovely time full of warm moments and delicious food! 2026 is upon us, and I for one am determined to make it a very good year. I hope you all are too!
It took a few months of backseat app modding, but I've finally joined the game with a character of my own! Maybe another character will slip into that roster in the future, who knows? Either way, I'm excited to play in Iyashikei and get interaction going with all you lovely folks. But just like the other mods, I'll also be doing my part behind the scenes to help the game grow and evolve where needed. ... Or just give you more of the stuff that we know you all love to play around with. If you have feedback, please don't hesitate to let the team know, as player involvement and satisfaction will always be a vital component to a healthy game. And if not, hope to see you all out there for some delicious threading!

New Magic Learning System
✨ This is something we’ve talked about and teased a few times in the past—including in our last State of the Game—and we’re excited to finally roll it out: the new magic learning system! With this update, characters who previously had no magic and characters who already possess magical abilities will now be able to learn new forms of magic in Iyashikei. ✨ How will learning new magic work?
A new option has been added to the Rewards list, allowing characters to enroll in one of the magical study programs at Yadah University.
